Jackson Petit (born 1983, Nassau, The Bahamas) is an interdisciplinary artist and creative professional whose focus is on painting, drawing and filmmaking
Petit is a graduate from The College of The Bahamas and Toronto Film College, Canada. From 1998 to 2004 he was a participant in the FINCO Summer Art Workshops and has taken part in numerous group exhibitions. He won The Central Bank of The Bahamas Art competition six times in various categories and received top honors in the CLICO Caribbean Art Competition in 2003. In 2013 he held his first solo show at the Central Bank of the Bahamas entitled the Surface Beneath. Artwork by Petit can be found many in private and public collections including that of actress CCH Pounder, Dawn Davies, D’Aguilar Art Foundation, just to name a few. From 2004 to 2011, he was involved in several stage plays as actor, as a stage manager, set builder and set designer. Jackson is also a filmmaker. Worked as a production assistant on films such as Casino Royale, extras casting director for Rain and has produced several of his own short films. Jackson and his brother Bernard operate and own the video production company Small Art Pictures. Currently Petit works at the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas developing art related films and video projects. |
